Dropped Objects remain one of the leading causes of serious injuries and fatalities in industrial environments, particularly in oil & gas, construction, offshore, mining, and heavy industry operations. This training course is designed to raise awareness, improve hazard recognition, and equip personnel with practical tools to prevent dropped object incidents in the workplace.
The Dropped Objects Training provides participants with a structured understanding of what constitutes a dropped object, the difference between static and dynamic dropped objects, and the underlying causes related to design, equipment, human factors, and operational practices. Emphasis is placed on real-life incidents, lessons learned, and the severe consequences of dropped objects for people, assets, and operations.
During the course, participants will learn how to identify dropped object hazards, assess risks associated with working at height and suspended loads, and apply effective control measures in line with international best practices. The training covers inspection and securing of tools and equipment, proper housekeeping, use of secondary retention systems, and implementation of dropped object prevention programs.
The course is suitable for personnel working at height, supervisors, HSE professionals, maintenance staff, rigging and lifting teams, and managers responsible for safe work execution. Upon completion, participants will have increased situational awareness, a stronger safety mindset, and the ability to actively contribute to reducing dropped object risks at their worksites.
